Drawing Machines

This series of hand held drawing machines started out as an extension of the process of putting charcoal on the end of a stick to remove control. These devices rotate, vibrate and articulate introducing a random element into the drawing process. The machine
becomes a conduit adding an extra layer of complexity between the hand and the paper which removes control and disrupts normal hand eye coordination with fascinating results. The act of drawing becomes a challenge which requires skill, concentration and an intuitive understanding of the movement of the pen.

The Drawing machines have been used at events and venues which include The House of Fairy Tales, Greenman & Latitude Festivals, Cambridge University and Rugby Museum and Art Gallery
