Winner of The Blunden Prize 2024

After presenting my design to a panel of judges at The Henry Moore Foundation, Hertfordshire I was delighted to make the final shortlist and then be announced the winner at The Henry Moore Institute in Leeds. My design is based on the site’s proximity to Coventry and it’s place in history in the evolution of the bicycle. The Starley Company designed and produced the first bicycle as we know it and my Great Grandfather Samuel Malachai Bond worked for the company and was given the job of exporting the bicycles to Russia in 1898. I am delighted to be able to draw on both local and family history to create a dynamic new sculpture for Stonewater.
